Coolest Granddad Ever?
All the granddads of the world take note – this could be the coolest grandpa
on the planet.
He doesn’t play golf, make jam or make lawn animals in his retirement. He is a little more extreme than that.
Paul is a retired aerospace engineer and thought it would be fun to build a mini roller coaster for his grandkids in his back yard.
Actually, this is the smallest of three rollercoasters he has built to entertain his six adored grandchildren. The biggest is called Smaug The Terrible and the smallest is called the Little Rocket.
The rides start by giving the little cars a good shove and then they run on their own momentum.
The Seattle based granddad worked for Boeing for 34 years before retiring, so he knows his stuff. He is such a skilled home mini rollercoaster builder that he has written a book about them, in the hopes of helping other parents follow suit.
Listen, I think I would trust an aerospace engineer with nearly 40 years experience to create a ride like this in my backyard… but I’m not sure any old grandparent with a dream and a hammer should have a go. Kids are fairly precious and the experiment could go horribly wrong.
There are probably some laws surrounding pop up backyard rollercoasters, or perhaps their should be.
But we love Paul and his amazing skills.
His lucky grandkids clearly adore their quirky, talented grandfather, and we can’t wait to see what he comes with next.
