Meet Eva – The Ultimate Feminist
On Wednesday, it’s International Women’s Day and this means we celebrate powerful, inspirational women. And we hope for a brighter, more equal future for our girls.
Little Eva is only 5 years old, but she has some very strong views about the way women should be treated in society.
She is a firm believer in equality and will shut down anyone who disagrees.
Eva also urges women to vote, because in the past, they weren’t allowed to vote, which was a shame. So use your vote, women. You have worked hard for it.
Eva very patiently and competently strives to teach Jude, a 5 year old boy, karate.
She certainly has the moves down pat, but he is a little skeptical at first.
Jude thinks that girls just ‘make silly potions’. Eva finds this extremely offensive, considering that she once extracted the DNA out of a banana.
But, she is very kind to Jude and proves herself to be quite the martial arts master. Eva teaches him kicking and punching and the right sounds to make. She gives him some positive feedback, while still being rather firm.
And it seems Jude may have been wrong about girls after all. They can teach him a thing or two, and his demeanor changes from cynical to respectful.
With continued pay inequality and so few women in senior positions in banking, finance, engineering, just to name a few, change is desperately needed across the board.
The message for this year is:
#BeBoldForChange and the International Women’s Day campaign urges us to encourage change at an individual level, as well as in our organizations. We need to take action immediately.
‘Each one of us - with women, men and non-binary people joining forces - can be a leader within our own spheres of influence by taking bold pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity. Through purposeful collaboration, we can help women advance and unleash the limitless potential offered to economies the world over.’
Little girls like Eva need us to pave the way so they can enjoy what is rightfully there’s – equality in the work place.
