These smart new blocks make building robots easy!
What if building robots was as easy as stacking blocks?
Robo Wunderkind is a unique building set consisting of colourful cube blocks that interconnect to form robots. By attaching the different cubes together, with each colour performing different functions, you can easily build and program simple robots. The companion app allows you to connect wirelessly to the robot and give it a set of commands.
The cubes feature an array of functions such as motors for movement, speakers and microphones to play and record sounds, and sensors to detect light levels and distance to other objects.
My favourite feature is that these cubes are compatible with standard LEGO blocks! Now you can introduce your younger kids to programming 'bots before diving into more complex sets like the Mindstorms.
As a parent who's had a hand at programming during school and at some point in my working life, I see a definite value in learning how to program. It's a great exercise to be able to break down problems and to create solutions by thinking outside the box. In this case, thinking inside the blocks!
I’d love to build a Robo Wunderkind 'bot that would stand in the hallway at bedtime. Upon detecting my kids trying to creep out of their rooms, it would be programmed to give them a silly message like, "Beep Beep Beep... Go back to sleep... And dream of sheep..."
