Build Your Own Bose Speaker? Now it’s Child’s Play!
If you’ve always wanted a Bose sound system, or anything Bose for that matter, but trying to sneak it into your budget is a ‘square peg round hole’ situation, then I may just have the answer. Buy this new BOSEbuild Speaker Cube kit, and say it’s for the kids! (*ahem* yeah, right, for the kids!)
It’s a step up from LEGO for technically minded, hands-on, children aged eight and over, or adults who just want a cool project.
Bose are well known across the globe for their high quality audio products, and the hefty price tag that comes with them, but with their new BOSEbuild kit, it’s far more accessible to build and customise your own durable, high-performance Bluetooth speaker.
You do require an Apple device in order to complete the discovery and build activities involved in the project, but once it’s completed you can use it with most wireless devices.
The speaker cube has been designed with kids in mind, so there are no difficult assembly steps, soldering or software problems to tackle, and no prior technical experience is necessary. The kids simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the included app and learn as they go. They’ll explore concepts including: frequency and waveforms, magnets and electromagnets, how sound works, and how speakers work.
The parts are big, bright, easy to handle, tough enough to withstand rough or clumsy handling, and importantly, clearly labelled. At the end of the project, they’ll have made a 12.1cm cube speaker that they can customise over and over again, with multiple LED colour light options, including lights that move to music.
In these days of hands-off, eyes down, excessive screen time and disengagement with the physical world, it’s exciting for kids these days to be able to say “I built that!”
