MEET THE FUNNIEST KID ON THE INTERWEBS
Ava Ryan is a comedian.
Female comedians often have a tough time competing in the male dominated world of comedy. But Ava’s last video has been viewed more than 22 million times, so you could say that she’s slaying it.
And she’s just 7 years old.
Ava’s mum, Katie, first noticed her daughter’s comedic talents at the age of 18 months, and started making and posting vines.
"That's when she developed this really good sense of humour. When she started talking that's when she was able to verbalise her sense of humour,” she said when she spoke to ABC News.
Ava has great timing, hilarious facial expressions and a very grown up way of speaking. She is like an old, cynical soul trapped in a little kid’s body.
She sings, acts, trash talks and offers advice on love, exercise, shopping and other grown up topics.
One of her mot famous vines from when she was a toddler, is when she looks out of the window and announces rather stoically that she smells like beef.
Here are some of her best vines over the years:
Ava has created a character called ‘Charlene’ who is a ‘hot mess’. Charlene pretends to work but actually looks at pictures of baby goats all day, and she ‘doesn’t follow rules, she follows dogs on Instagram’.
She told ABC News that she’s working on a new character. "I want to come up with a sailor named Winston," she said.
Katie says they don’t pressure her to perform – she’s a natural and loves coming up with new material, "It's all up to her comfort. Whatever she wants to do. I just let her make the choices."
I love Ava, and completely understand that she is driving her own fame, but I wonder about what impact it will have later on in life.
Do these childhood Internet stars go the way of the child movie stars of the past? Do they burn out quickly, grow up too fast, or plunge into depression when they’re no longer cute?
You have to wonder what will become of them.
But will they have such a big following when their cute chubby cheeks become pimply and their voices start to break? And how will their parents help them navigate this?
But all the best to gorgeous little Ava. Who knows – she might be the next Tina Fey or Amy Schumer!
