Kristen Toovey
Kristen is a writer, producer and editor with more than fifteen years’ experience in the industry. She cut her teeth editing commercials and film trailers in Sydney and London before immersing herself in the weird and wonderful world of TV, and her great love is what she’s doing now - working in kids’ television.
Before this, Kristen dabbled in the Crime and History genres, and although it was fascinating, she was just dying to drop in a fart joke.
Some of her most successful projects to date have been as writer, producer and editor - on Camp Orange, The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and Slimefest.
But her biggest project so far has been producing Violet and Charlie - two gorgeous and all-consuming little people who continue to challenge her values, both as a mother and as a human being.
Kristen is an avid reader and contributor to parenting websites, and for many years has had her own blog, Born Without Manual. Rather than filling it with smug advice and wholesome muffin recipes, Kristen has used the blog to share her own experiences, wins and losses in this new and daunting world of parenthood.
Kristen lives in Sydney with her tradie husband Michael, two kids and bulldog, Morris.
She loves renovating, writing, singing, op shopping and anything to do with salt water and sand. She wants to be one of those people who has a vegie patch and hopes some day to again read the newspaper she buys every day……..
